President Donald Trump's annual financial disclosure, released Tuesday by the U.S. Office of Government Ethics, reveals that he earned over $1.2 billion from cryptocurrency ventures in 2025. The filing, which totals more than 900 pages, also shows Trump holds over $50 million in Bitcoin and between $5 million and $25 million in Ethereum, among other digital assets. These figures underscore the president's deep financial involvement in the crypto sector.

The report details income from Trump's various businesses, with cryptocurrency featuring prominently as the largest line items. The disclosure comes amid ongoing national debate over cryptocurrency regulation, including the proposed Clarity Act. Trump's crypto ventures include a meme coin and a decentralized finance platform operated by his family.

Specifically, Trump earned approximately $635 million from his TRUMP meme coin, primarily through royalties from a licensing agreement with Celebration Coins. The token launched on the Solana network days before Trump took office in January 2025, initially surging to a multi-billion-dollar market capitalization. However, it has since crashed by roughly 98%, currently trading at $1.66 with a $394 million market cap. Additionally, Trump reported over $588 million in net proceeds from token sales by World Liberty Financial, a decentralized finance and stablecoin venture.

The disclosure follows a prior filing in May that revealed gains from trading crypto-related stocks like Robinhood and Coinbase. Together, these figures highlight the enormous scale of Trump's crypto earnings. Critics argue that such financial interests create conflicts of interest, especially as his administration pushes for crypto-friendly legislation.

The Clarity Act, which would legalize most crypto activity in the United States, has passed the House but remains stalled in the Senate. Top Democrats oppose the bill without ethics language that bars the president and his family from engaging in cryptocurrency businesses. They contend that passing the bill without such safeguards could enable self-dealing.

The controversy underscores the tension between innovation and governance in the crypto space. The fate of the Clarity Act remains uncertain, with the Senate unlikely to act soon. Meanwhile, Trump's crypto ventures continue to operate, drawing increased scrutiny from lawmakers and regulators. This disclosure may fuel further calls for stricter oversight of digital assets tied to public officials.
