AVELIN AI, a sovereign AI platform tailored for enterprises and governments in regulated industries, has secured $3.7 million in pre-seed funding from angel investors. The company will utilize the capital to expand commercially across the Middle East, Europe, and North America, scale its GPU infrastructure, and advance its proprietary Cross-Model Fusion technology. This funding marks a significant milestone for the startup as it addresses the growing demand for AI systems that organizations can directly control.

Founded by Yury Akinin, a PhD-trained entrepreneur who previously co-founded life sciences AI company Quantori—which reached a valuation exceeding $100 million—AVELIN AI focuses on providing sovereign AI infrastructure. Akinin noted that enterprises and governments increasingly view AI ownership and control as essential to security and compliance. AVELIN’s platform enables organizations to govern their AI capabilities internally rather than relying on external providers.

The funding round comes at a time when sovereign AI is gaining strategic importance globally, driven by tightening regulations and rising enterprise demand for in-house AI solutions, particularly in the Gulf region. AVELIN is supported by technology partners including NVIDIA Inception, AWS Activate, the Dubai Future Foundation, as well as programs through Red Hat, DigitalOcean, and OVHcloud. These partnerships highlight the company’s integration with leading cloud and AI ecosystems.

With the new capital, AVELIN plans to convert existing commercial agreements into signed contracts and expand its presence across the Gulf region. The company also aims to grow into European and North American markets through the remainder of 2026, targeting regulated sectors such as financial services, healthcare, government, and critical infrastructure. The expansion reflects the increasing need for compliant and secure AI deployment in sensitive industries.

Industry experts view the investment as a response to the growing skepticism toward cloud-based AI services and the desire for data sovereignty. AVELIN’s Cross-Model Fusion technology allows organizations to combine multiple AI models while retaining control, which is crucial for meeting regulatory requirements. The company’s focus on sovereign AI aligns with global trends where nations seek to protect data and maintain technological independence.

Looking ahead, AVELIN aims to establish itself as a key player in the sovereign AI space, competing with larger vendors by offering tailored solutions for regulated entities. The company expects to hire additional talent and enhance its GPU infrastructure to support customer workloads. As AI adoption accelerates across critical sectors, AVELIN’s approach could set a precedent for how organizations balance innovation with governance.
