Juiced Bikes, a once-dominant player in the North American e-bike market, has relaunched under new ownership with the Scrambler, a moped-style e-bike designed to push legal performance limits without crossing them. The company, which collapsed in 2024, aims to redefine street-ready e-bikes under the leadership of Austin Gomes. After spending several days riding the Scrambler alongside Gomes, it became clear that Juiced is not just trying to recapture its past but is instead redefining what a legal, street-ready moped-style e-bike can be.
Juiced built a loyal following for powerful bikes that blurred the line between bicycles and mopeds, but regulatory changes and financial troubles led to its collapse. Acquired by Lectric, the brand is now focusing on compliance with e-bike classes while maintaining excitement. Unlike many moped-style e-bikes assembled from off-the-shelf parts, the Scrambler is custom-designed from the frame and battery covers to the seat, handlebars, and suspension tuning.
The Scrambler features a 750W-rated rear hub motor that delivers well over that in peak power, along with huge torque for strong acceleration. It comes in hardtail and full-suspension versions, with the full-suspension model designed first for better kinematics. Gomes explained that the goal was to keep the Juiced high-performance vein while developing something that stays within Class 1, 2, and 3 limits. The bike launches hard from a stop, climbs confidently, and remains comfortable to pedal.
By staying within legal limits, Juiced differentiates itself from brands that sell borderline electric motorcycles as bicycles. The Scrambler aims to provide a thrilling ride that still feels like a bicycle, appealing to both enthusiasts and regulators. During test rides, the bike felt balanced and composed, even over rough terrain, thanks to Gomesā background as a competitive cyclist and dirt bike rider.
Gomes emphasized that the attention to geometry was intentional. The bottom bracket height, seat profile, and handlebar position were chosen to create a natural riding position whether cruising pavement or standing on pedals over rough terrain. The full-suspension version transforms the bike, making it more composed on broken pavement and gravel paths while remaining planted on the street.
The Scrambler marks a strong start for Juiced's new chapter. With a focus on compliance and performance, the brand could regain customer trust and set a new standard for moto-style e-bikes. As legislation tightens, Juicedās approach of maximizing legal performance without crossing the line may become a blueprint for the industry.
