OpenAI recently announced a major executive appointment: Dali Rajic, who served as President and COO of cloud security company Wiz, will become the company's Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), leading the global revenue organization. The appointment will take effect soon, succeeding Denise Dresser, who had been in the role for only about eight months and will leave OpenAI after completing the handover. This move marks a key step for OpenAI in accelerating its commercialization process and building a scalable revenue system.

Public information shows that Rajic has extensive executive experience in the enterprise software field. Before joining OpenAI, he served as President and COO of Wiz, a cloud security company under Google, which was recently acquired by Google for $32 billion (approximately 216.34 billion RMB). Earlier, he also served as President and COO of cloud security company Zscaler, and as head of customer and revenue at enterprise application performance monitoring company AppDynamics, with long-term responsibility for operations, sales, and customer relationship management in enterprise software businesses.

OpenAI President and co-founder Greg Brockman welcomed Rajic's addition and revealed the company's latest business data: OpenAI products currently have over 1 billion weekly active users, and the number of enterprise customers has exceeded 2 million, doubling year-over-year. As artificial intelligence increasingly integrates into enterprise workflows, OpenAI is at a critical juncture in converting its user scale into sustainable revenue. Brockman emphasized that the company's next phase requires building a revenue system that can operate at scale, turning past experience into a repeatable business model.

Rajic's responsibilities will cover all aspects of the global revenue organization, including sales, customer success, and revenue operations. To support this goal, OpenAI has also established strategic partnerships with Chad Peets and RPT Partners to help build the go-to-market (GTM) team, strengthening the capability to bring products to market. These measures show that OpenAI is transforming from a technology-driven organization to one that balances technology and business.

It is worth noting that OpenAI has experienced frequent senior management changes this year. In April, Fidji Simo, who was responsible for AGI deployment, took a leave of absence due to health reasons. Chief Operating Officer Brad Lightcap then transitioned to special projects, and Denise Dresser took over most of Lightcap's previous commercial operations responsibilities. Subsequently, Simo stepped down from her full-time role in July and became an advisor. Lightcap announced his departure from OpenAI this week, and Dresser will also leave, with Dali Rajic taking over her core commercial operations functions. These changes reflect OpenAI's ongoing exploration in adjusting business focus and optimizing management structure.

Industry analysts believe that Rajic's arrival comes at a critical juncture when OpenAI's enterprise service demand is surging. With the widespread application of products like ChatGPT in office, programming, data analysis, and other scenarios, enterprise customers' willingness to pay for AI solutions has significantly increased. Rajic's deep experience in the enterprise software field, especially his practical experience driving revenue growth at Wiz and Zscaler, is expected to help OpenAI build a more mature enterprise sales system and convert its huge user base into a stable revenue source.

Looking ahead, while expanding its enterprise business, OpenAI also needs to respond to fierce competition in the AI field from tech giants such as Google and Microsoft. Rajic's appointment reflects OpenAI's emphasis on commercial implementation, and whether he can lead the team to achieve a scaled-up revenue system will directly relate to the company's long-term competitiveness. As AI technology moves from R&D to deep application, this organizational adjustment may become an important turning point in OpenAI's development.
