At today's Xuanjie chip technology communication event, Xiaomi officially launched its latest AI acceleration chip β€” the Xuanjie O100. This chip is described by the company as the industry's first AI acceleration chip to adopt a 6nm process and 3D wafer-level stacking technology, marking a significant progress for Xiaomi in on-device AI hardware.

The Xuanjie O100 is Xiaomi's first high-bandwidth AI acceleration chip specifically designed for on-device large models. It employs advanced wafer-level vertical stacking packaging technology combined with a hybrid bonding process, achieving an industry-leading bonding pitch of 1.4 micrometers. This technological breakthrough enables tighter and more efficient internal interconnections within the chip.

In terms of performance, the Xuanjie O100 delivers an ultra-high memory bandwidth of up to 1.22 TB/s. Official data indicates that this bandwidth level is 16 times that of current flagship smartphones. The robust bandwidth support allows the chip to achieve a maximum inference speed of 330 tokens per second for large models on-device, providing a solid foundation for running complex AI applications at the edge.

Xiaomi revealed that the development of the Xuanjie O100 chip has been completed. According to plans, the chip will be commercially available next year and is expected to be first deployed in Xiaomi's high-end smartphones or other smart terminal devices.

The launch of the Xuanjie O100 showcases Xiaomi's continuous investment and innovation capabilities in self-developed chip design. Utilizing such advanced packaging and process technology helps address the challenges of balancing power consumption, heat dissipation, and performance in on-device AI computing, setting a precedent for the industry's shift toward more powerful on-device intelligence.

Industry analysts believe that as the trend of migrating large language models to edge devices becomes increasingly pronounced, the demand for dedicated AI acceleration chips is growing rapidly. The commercialization of Xiaomi's Xuanjie O100 is expected to enhance the competitiveness of its products in smart experiences while accelerating the R&D and adoption of advanced packaging technologies across the related supply chain.

Currently, Xiaomi has not disclosed all the specific architectural details, power consumption data, or the models of the first terminal products featuring the Xuanjie O100. The market will continue to monitor its commercial performance next year and the actual user experience transformation it may bring.

Overall, the Xuanjie O100 represents a significant technical showcase for Xiaomi in the field of high-end chip design. It is not only a product but also symbolizes the latest attempt by Chinese technology companies to explore cutting-edge semiconductor technology paths. Its ultimate market impact will be validated after the product launch next year.
