On August 27, Alibaba Group officially launched its brand-new Qoder platform. With powerful programming capabilities as its core foundation, the platform is positioned as an intelligent agent workbench for all users. This marks a significant product upgrade by Alibaba in the field of AI-assisted tools.
Looking back at the product's history, the original Qoder IDE was first introduced in August 2025, primarily as an AI programming tool. Leveraging its capabilities, the product rapidly accumulated a massive user base in less than a year. Official data shows that as of now, Qoder's global cumulative users have exceeded 6 million, and over 100,000 enterprise clients are using the service.
The core transformation of the new Qoder lies in its primary shift from pure code engineering to executing more complex intelligent agent tasks. The product adopts the industry's latest Harness technology framework. This technology endows the platform with a series of advanced capabilities, including proficiency in executing long-chain autonomous tasks such as "read-modify-verify-iterate," automatic codebase retrieval, cross-file editing, test execution, and self-correction based on actual results.
In terms of security and performance, the new platform introduces a tiered permission model and a tool whitelist mechanism, ensuring that all sensitive operations require explicit user authorization. Additionally, Qoder integrates the most advanced domestic and international models and has performed deep adaptation specifically for the Qwen model. The collaborative iteration of Harness technology and the Qwen model forms an end-to-end optimization advantage in long-context processing, automatic compression, and tool invocation accuracy.
The product released this time also offers high flexibility and intelligence. It supports long-term memory across sessions and can periodically self-refine skills, meaning the longer it is used, the deeper the platform's understanding of the user's project and habits becomes. For different scenarios, Qoder provides two modes: a programming mode aimed at developers, and a general mode that allows non-technical users to also leverage its capabilities to complete complex tasks.
In terms of specific functionality, Qoder drives the intelligent agent to work continuously through Goal (objective) and uses Plan (plan) to chart a path. Its memory system, local project context, and running status provide the necessary background for tasks. Furthermore, by integrating over 40 connectors, more than 70 plugins, and over 20,000 skills, the platform can connect various work systems such as code repositories, project management, and cloud services, seamlessly integrating them into the AI workflow.
Currently, the brand-new Qoder desktop application has been officially released. Users can access qoder.com to download the international version or qoder.cn to download the China version. To celebrate the launch, the official team has also launched a limited-time promotional activity. From now until 10:00 on September 1, individual users can receive 500 Qwen series-exclusive Credits per day for five consecutive days, accumulating up to a maximum of 2,500 Credits. Enterprise users can enjoy a 50% discount when using the Qwen 3.8 series models during this period.
