On September 15, 2026, MediaTek officially launched the Dimensity 9600 Pro flagship chip at its annual Dimensity flagship new product launch event. Lu Weibing, partner and president of Xiaomi Group; Fang Fei, product line president of Honor Device Co., Ltd.; and Wang Haibin, vice president of Transsion Holdings, all appeared via video to congratulate MediaTek on the release of its new flagship chip. However, none of the three executives disclosed specific device cooperation plans.
This launch event represents an important move by MediaTek in the flagship chip field. The Dimensity 9600 Pro is positioned as a flagship 5G agentic AI chip and is among the industry's first to adopt a 2nm process, marking a key step by MediaTek in advanced processes. The chip uses an all-new Pro architecture and delivers significant improvements in both performance and energy efficiency.
In terms of specific architecture design, the Dimensity 9600 Pro carries multiple innovative technologies. For the CPU, it adopts the Dimensity intelligent computing fusion architecture; for the GPU, the Dimensity neural network rendering architecture; for the NPU, an ultra-performance and ultra-efficiency dual-NPU architecture; and for the ISP, the Dimensity intelligent imaging architecture. These designs are intended to comprehensively enhance the chip's overall performance in computing, graphics processing, artificial intelligence, and imaging.
On the cooperative device side, the vivo X500 Pro series phones have been officially announced as the world's first to feature the Dimensity 9600 Pro flagship chip. At the same time, the OPPO Find X10 Pro Max phone will also be among the first to carry the chip. The addition of these two models shows recognition of MediaTek's flagship chip by leading smartphone manufacturers.
With the release of the Dimensity 9600 Pro, MediaTek's competitiveness in the high-end market has been further strengthened. The adoption of the 2nm process gives it greater advantages in power consumption control and performance release. The industry expects that the chip will appear in more flagship models in the coming months, driving upgrades in smartphones' AI applications and imaging experiences.
