Snap is launching Specs Intelligence, a new AI assistant that connects digital accounts to help with work tasks and travel information. The company announced the service alongside Specs, its first consumer augmented reality glasses. Specs Intelligence is available on iOS in preview Wednesday, September 16, 2026. Snap describes it as an "anticipatory AI service."
Unlike conventional chatbots, Specs Intelligence can also chat with users. Snap positions it similarly to Meta's Muse and Gemini's Spark, but emphasizes anticipation. It aims to manage what needs attention today so users can progress toward longer-term goals.
According to Snap, Specs Intelligence builds an understanding of a user's goals, priorities, relationships, and routines. It draws from apps and tools the user chooses to connect. The service carries that personal context across devices and deepens its understanding over time. It is designed to help users move between work and personal life.
The launch pairs the assistant with Snap's hardware ambitions. Specs are the company's first consumer AR glasses. While Specs Intelligence debuts alongside them, it is not limited to the glasses. Users can join a waitlist for a "full early-access experience" coming to Mac. Snap would not say on the record how the preview differs from that full version.
The move places Snap in a growing field of AI assistants. Meta and Google have already introduced similar tools. Snap's focus on anticipation and cross-device context could differentiate it. The company is betting that proactive help is more valuable than simple question-and-answer interactions.
Details about privacy and data handling remain unclear. Snap's gradual rollout, starting with an iOS preview and a Mac waitlist, suggests a cautious approach. The company has not shared a timeline for broader availability. More information may come as early access expands.
