Stablecoin payments firm dtcpay has completed a $25 million Series A round, with Japan's SBI Group joining as a strategic investor. The Singapore-licensed company announced the closing today. Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India anchored the round earlier this year.
SBI invested through SBI Ventures Asset and the SBI-NTU-Kyobo Digital Innovation Fund. Existing backers Genedant Capital and Kwee Liong Tek kept their positions. Dtcpay offers digital-asset conversion, custody, and a Visa-linked card for spending stablecoins like cash. It holds a Major Payment Institution license from the Monetary Authority of Singapore and operates in Europe, Hong Kong, Australia, and North America.
The investment fits SBI's broader push into stablecoin banking and digital-asset infrastructure. SBI recently acquired Singapore's Coinhako, expanded its multibillion-dollar Ripple stake to distribute RLUSD, and became a founding validator for Circle's Arc network. These moves connect Japanese capital with Southeast Asian commercial channels through regulated pipelines.
Stablecoins offer a faster alternative to traditional correspondent banking when intermediaries meet strict regulatory standards. Dtcpay's licensing and cross-border reach make it a suitable partner. The deal shows stablecoin firms turning to established financial groups for credibility and distribution.
Alice Liu, founder and CEO of dtcpay, said the round was not meant to sustain what the company has built. "We raised it to fundamentally change how money moves across borders," she said. The funding will support an enterprise portal, enhanced app features, and merchant expansion.
Dtcpay did not disclose its valuation, revenue, or exact use of proceeds. The announcement emphasized the strategic nature of SBI's participation. The company said the $25 million will fund product development and growth.
As stablecoins enter regulated finance, Asia-Pacific is becoming a key proving ground. Dtcpay's operations across multiple regions give it a broad base for cross-border use cases. The completed round signals continued investor appetite for compliant stablecoin infrastructure.
