Manus has launched version 2.0 of its AI agent, adding video editing, multiplayer game hosting, and remote control by phone. Personal agents can have their own phone numbers and work with approved files and apps on a user’s computer. The release is available now.
Manus 2.0 follows a failed acquisition. Meta acquired the startup in late 2025 but unwound the deal after Beijing blocked it; Tencent has since been negotiating for the largest stake. Meta is also developing Muse, an agent that gives every user a cloud computer.
Central to the update is Cascade, a new agent harness that, in one tested configuration, used 23.2% fewer tokens and cost 32% less to run than the prior system. Workload and test conditions were not disclosed, limiting comparison. The reductions nevertheless signal a focus on efficiency.
Manus 2.0 also expands event-driven automation. Agents can respond to incoming emails or Slack messages, while Computer Use enables remote direction involving approved local files and apps. The feature links cloud services with a user’s machine while retaining approval controls.
The desktop app is now Manus Studio, with new Video Editor and Game Dev environments. Users can manually refine outputs, while dedicated cloud computers can keep multiplayer game servers running. These tools provide greater control over agent-generated media and hosted games.
A separate app called Cue gives each agent an email address, wallet, and computer. It is in free early access with an invite code. These dedicated resources could support persistent services for communication, creative work, and game hosting.
No customer reactions or adoption figures have been disclosed. Important questions are whether Cascade’s savings transfer to real workloads and whether phone-based control works reliably with local apps. Manus’s outlook may also hinge on Tencent’s stake talks and competition from Meta’s Muse.
