U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs attracted $6.34 billion in net inflows during the third quarter, their strongest result of 2026. Bitcoin rose 42.71%, posting its strongest quarter since the fourth quarter of 2024 and its best third quarter since 2017. The rally reversed weaker momentum from the first half.

The inflows reversed about $5 billion in net outflows recorded by U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs in the second quarter. ETF demand returned as Bitcoin rebounded from its first-half decline. Stronger flows also placed Bitcoin-focused products back at the center of the crypto ETF market.

September produced $2.65 billion of net inflows, the quarter’s largest monthly contribution. That was around 25% below August’s $3.52 billion, while July recorded $172 million, according to SoSoValue. The uneven figures show that participation accelerated rather than remaining steady.

Momentum weakened on Wednesday, when Bitcoin ETFs recorded roughly $149 million in net outflows. The move snapped a nine-day inflow streak that had attracted about $3.1 billion. The reversal did not erase September’s broader gain but highlighted the volatility of late-month flows.

U.S. spot Ether ETFs attracted about $3.05 billion in the third quarter after roughly $714 million of second-quarter net outflows. Ether gained approximately 71%, outpacing Bitcoin over the same period. Its price and fund performance made it a major beneficiary of the broader crypto recovery.

Demand also reached other altcoin funds. XRP ETFs took in $308 million in the third quarter, lifting cumulative net inflows to $1.79 billion. Solana and Zcash ETFs recorded September inflows of $272 million and $246 million, respectively.

The figures point to a broad recovery, though slower September flows and the Wednesday reversal show that momentum remained uneven. Future ETF demand will indicate whether investor confidence is sustained. Price performance across Bitcoin, Ether and other assets will shape the next phase.
