Open Standard’s Open USD (OUSD) is now the default stablecoin on Stripe, launching across Stripe products. Businesses can receive, hold, send and spend OUSD with Treasury, build card programs with Issuing, and pay recipients globally through Global Payouts. Crypto Onramp also supports fiat-to-OUSD conversions, while Payments can accept OUSD.

The integration targets fintechs, institutions and global businesses seeking internet-native payment rails at scale. OUSD offers low, predictable transaction fees as volumes increase, with no minting or burning fees. Businesses that join Open Standard as partners may also earn rewards based on OUSD activity, including balances held on Stripe.

Bridge orchestration APIs allow businesses to convert OUSD to and from fiat and other stablecoins. Privy, meanwhile, can support OUSD within digital wallet experiences. Companies can use the components individually or with Stripe to build transaction flows without separate providers.

Ramp will soon use Stripe to power stablecoin accounts where users can hold OUSD, earn rewards and make payments. The planned accounts are intended to enable global payments 24/7. OUSD on Tempo is Stripe’s default stablecoin configuration, while OUSD also operates on Base, Ethereum and Solana.

Stripe will still let customers select other stablecoins and blockchains based on cost, settlement speed and infrastructure needs. Users will not need to convert existing stablecoin balances to OUSD. OUSD therefore has a prominent default position without becoming mandatory.

OUSD launches with support from Open Standard’s founding companies, including Coinbase, Mastercard, Shopify, Stripe and Visa. More than 200 network partners are backing its launch. The roster spans major payments, card, commerce and cryptocurrency businesses.

Open Standard and Stripe will continue rolling out additional OUSD support. Stripe plans to keep it available by default across its products. Businesses can begin through the documentation or contact sales.
