Carbon Studio's virtual-reality driving simulation game 《Arizona Truck Driver》(Arizona Truck Driver) announced that it will launch in early access on the Meta Quest platform this month, becoming an exclusive title for the standalone VR headset platform. Set against the backdrop of the U.S. state of Arizona, players must not only drive trucks to complete transportation missions but also handle vehicle maintenance, refueling, and company management. The development team says the game is expected to provide more than 25 hours of content.
In fact, PC VR players have already been able to enjoy relatively complete truck-driving simulation gameplay through the VR-enabled versions of American Truck Simulator and Euro Truck Simulator 2, but the range of similar games on standalone VR headset platforms has remained relatively limited. Carbon Studio hopes to change that with Arizona Truck Driver, filling a long-standing gap in this genre for Quest users.
In terms of gameplay design, players do not simply drive a truck from one location to another. Instead, they accept transportation missions from different companies and gradually expand their business by completing jobs. At the same time, players are responsible for routine tasks such as cleaning, repairing, and refueling their trucks, making the business-management element a part of the entire game.
The game currently offers six different American- and European-style trucks, each with its own handling characteristics and physics. Players can use more than 350 customization items to change a truck's appearance, and every truck has an interactive cockpit, including a radio with multiple stations, making the driving experience closer to real-life truck driving.
The game map is inspired by the U.S. state of Arizona and is divided into 12 regions and three different ecological environments, with dynamic weather and seasonal changes. Weather and seasons not only alter the visual effects but also affect the road conditions players encounter while driving, increasing the difficulty of different road sections.
As the game progresses, players can unlock more regions by completing transportation missions, obtaining new driver's licenses, and expanding their business. They can also hire NPC drivers to take on additional transportation work, purchase new trucks, and gradually expand their headquarters.
The release of the early-access version will give Meta Quest players their first opportunity to experience a relatively complete truck simulation game on a standalone VR headset. The scale of its content and the pace of subsequent updates will still need to be tested by the market.
