Robinhood has added approximately $25 million worth of bitcoin to its corporate balance sheet, according to Johann Kerbrat, the company's Senior Vice President and General Manager of Crypto and International. The disclosure was made during an interview on The Starting Block, broadcast at the Digital Asset Summit (AS) Asia conference on Wednesday. While Robinhood has not officially confirmed the purchase, the move signals growing confidence in bitcoin as a treasury asset among major financial services firms.

Kerbrat explained that the decision to acquire BTC reflects how deeply the company cares about bitcoin and the broader cryptocurrency ecosystem. He noted that with Robinhood's market capitalization in the $100 billion range, the $25 million investment is not expected to significantly alter the company's financial trajectory. Despite its relatively modest size compared to the firm's overall valuation, the purchase places Robinhood among a growing cohort of public companies holding bitcoin as a treasury reserve.

Robinhood, a U.S.-based financial services company, boasts over 28 million funded customers globally. The firm has long been a major player in the cryptocurrency space, offering trading services for a wide range of digital assets. Its latest move underscores an expanding commitment to integrating digital currencies into its broader corporate strategy.

Beyond bitcoin holdings, Robinhood has been aggressively expanding its crypto ecosystem. In July, the company launched Robinhood Chain, an Ethereum-compatible Layer 2 network built on Arbitrum, designed for tokenized real-world assets and decentralized finance. Since the mainnet debut, the chain has introduced tokenized stock products, the USDG stablecoin, and yield-bearing lending through Robinhood Earn.

Robinhood's blockchain integration also includes major DeFi protocols such as Uniswap, along with infrastructure support from Chainlink, Alchemy, and BitGo. CoinDesk has reached out to Robinhood's press team to inquire about potential future plans to acquire more BTC or other tokens. The company's willingness to publicly discuss its bitcoin holdings suggests it may continue expanding its digital asset reserves in the coming months.

As stablecoins move further into regulated finance and Asia-Pacific becomes a key proving ground for digital asset regulation, Robinhood's strategic positioning appears well-timed. The firm's combination of bitcoin treasury holdings, a proprietary blockchain network, and a growing product suite places it at the forefront of the evolving cryptocurrency landscape.
