Apple is set to announce a new smart home hub called the HomeView on Tuesday, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. The device is a Siri-powered hub with a display and an A18 chip. It will let customers control other smart home devices. The HomeView will reportedly come in two models: countertop and wall-mounted.
The announcement would mark Apple’s most serious smart home bet to date. For years, the company struggled to gain traction with HomeKit and the HomePod smart speaker. Multiple reports over the past couple of years indicated Apple was working on a new smart home product. Now it appears to have a name and an announcement date.
Gurman reports that Apple will also unveil updated Apple TV and HomePod mini on Tuesday. Earlier this week, he said Apple plans an LG partnership. That collaboration would produce a smart lock, a thermostat, and a doorbell. Together, these moves suggest a broader home strategy beyond a single hub.
If launched, the HomeView could centralize control of lights, locks, thermostats, and other devices. A display and A18 chip would give it more processing power than current HomePod models. The two form factors would target kitchens, living rooms, and wall-mounted control points. This could help Apple compete in a market where it has lagged.
Gurman’s report is the latest in a string of leaks about Apple’s home ambitions. The HomeView name and Tuesday timing have not been confirmed by Apple. The reported LG partnership would add third-party hardware to Apple’s ecosystem. Those accessories could make the HomeView more useful at launch.
The Tuesday event will be closely watched for details on availability and software support. Apple’s past home products failed to achieve breakout success, and the HomeView is intended to change that narrative. Its success may depend on Siri and the A18 chip delivering a smooth experience.
