On October 13, according to ChinaVenture, Shenzhen Shita Robotics Technology Co., Ltd. completed an angel round of financing. Investors include Huawei's Hubble Investment, a fund under Shenzhen High-Tech Investment, and Gaoxuan Investment, among others, with Duowei Capital serving as exclusive financial advisor. This round of financing will be used for product R&D iteration and commercialization, and to expand multi-scenario applications such as embodied intelligence, consumer electronics, and industrial applications.

Shita Robotics takes flexible photonic crystal materials as its technological starting point and focuses on tactile perception and robotic manipulation. Its core R&D team comes from the Intelligent Liquid Crystal Optics Laboratory at the Southern University of Science and Technology. Founder and CEO Zhang Wei's doctoral studies were jointly cultivated by the Southern University of Science and Technology and City University of Hong Kong. This team background gives it a research and development foundation in the intersection of photonic crystals and tactile technology.

Around photonic crystal tactile technology, Shita Robotics has extended product and technology directions including tactile sensors, data acquisition systems, and tactile control models. This means its layout involves multiple links from sensing devices to data and control models. The company hopes to use this round of financing to accelerate the R&D iteration and commercialization of related products.

According to ITHome, citing the Shenzhen International Advanced Technology Application Promotion Center, Shita Robotics has self-developed a novel flexible photonic crystal functional soft material. This material establishes a “mechanics-optics” mapping through nanoscale periodic structures. On this basis, it achieves a high sensing density of more than 10,000 points/cm², multidimensional force characterization, and excellent linearity. These indicators provide technical support for its high-density tactile perception solution.

Shita Robotics has also created the currently only high-density tactile sensing solution that can achieve an ultra-thin, flexible conformal form of less than 1 mm—the photonic crystal visuotactile electronic skin. This solution makes full-body coverage of robots possible. Its ultra-thin and flexible conformal characteristics point to broader deployment of high-density tactile sensing on robot surfaces.

At the application level, the photonic crystal visuotactile electronic skin can be applied to scenarios such as industrial dexterous manipulation, household organization and storage, smart homes, and acupuncture robots. These scenarios place different requirements on the sensitivity, density, and adaptability of robot touch. Shita Robotics' technological path therefore points to broader markets such as embodied intelligence, consumer electronics, and industrial applications.

With the completion of the angel round of financing, Shita Robotics will advance product R&D iteration and commercialization. The participation of Huawei Hubble Investment, a fund under Shenzhen High-Tech Investment, and Gaoxuan Investment, among others, shows capital's attention to the tactile sensing track. In the future, whether flexible photonic crystal tactile technology can be deployed in more robot scenarios still remains to be verified by the market.
