Vercel has launched Token Pass in early access for Pro teams, a subscription that bundles monthly AI credit for popular coding models. For $30 per month, a team receives $80 in monthly credit usable with GLM 5.3 and Kimi K3, with more models promised later. The service runs through AI Gateway, letting teams switch between included models using a shared balance. Vercel frames it as a predictable way to fund agentic coding work.

The launch follows months in which developers increasingly build agents on top of multiple models rather than committing to one vendor. Managing separate API keys, invoices, and rate limits across providers has become a real burden for small teams. Token Pass consolidates that spending into a single team credit that can be used across supported models.

Early access is limited to Pro teams. The subscription costs $30 monthly and includes $80 of credit. It renews automatically unless canceled, and unused credit does not roll over. When credit is exhausted, requests stop until the next billing period, with no automatic overage charges.

Technically, Token Pass is routed through AI Gateway, so a single API key works across the included models. Teams can use it with coding agents such as fx, Command Code, and Pi, or build custom agents with the AI SDK. Zero Data Retention is enabled by default, meaning prompts and responses are deleted after each request and are not used to train models. Inference runs through selected providers in the US and EU.

The impact falls mainly on Pro teams already running agents in production or experimenting heavily. Instead of forecasting per-provider costs, they get a fixed fee and a shared pool of credit. That shared pool also encourages collaboration, since one balance funds everyone's usage. Startups and small engineering groups likely benefit most from the bundled discount.

Reaction has been broadly positive, with analysts noting that Vercel is addressing a genuine pain point in AI cost management. Developers have praised Zero Data Retention being on by default as a meaningful privacy win. Some question whether $80 stretches far enough for intensive agent workloads, since frontier models burn tokens quickly. The feature was built with contributions from Shu Uesugi, John Phamous, Harpreet Arora, Jeremy Dopkin, and Cody Henshaw.

Looking ahead, Vercel says more models will be added, though no timeline has been given. The company could widen availability beyond Pro teams if early access performs well. Future updates may add usage analytics, per-team controls, and deeper agent integrations. Teams can activate the subscription from the Token Pass page in their AI Gateway dashboard.

More broadly, Token Pass fits a pattern of infrastructure vendors bundling model access into their platforms. As agentic coding goes mainstream, competition is shifting from raw model quality toward pricing, privacy, and integration. Vercel's move puts it against Cloudflare and AWS in the race for developer mindshare. How Token Pass performs may shape how other platforms package AI credits.
