President Donald Trump announced that Elon Musk’s planned SpaceX share giveaway for children will be distributed through Trump Accounts. Musk said earlier that he would give one of his SpaceX shares to “every kid in America” sometime next year. Trump appeared to confirm the plan in a post on Truth Social.

The White House said 60 million tax-advantaged accounts for kids were created automatically in October. After that auto-enrollment, over 70 million Trump Accounts had been created. The accounts are designed to encourage savings for children.

Given the value of SpaceX’s stock on Friday, 72 million shares would be worth approximately $10.5 billion, according to CNBC. Musk said, “This will be the first of many.” The figure assumes one share for each of the roughly 72 million children in the United States.

The giveaway would channel private SpaceX equity into the new child savings accounts. It also ties a prominent corporate name to a government-backed savings initiative. The transfer could raise questions about valuation, custody, and tax treatment.

Musk thanked Trump Account booster Brad Gerstner for “helping enable this.” Other donors have also promised contributions, including Michael and Susan Dell, Ray and Barbara Dalio, Gerstner, and SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell. Their pledges add momentum to the accounts.

The plan is expected to be implemented sometime next year. It remains unclear how the SpaceX shares will be transferred and administered. The White House has not detailed the mechanics of the giveaway.

The announcement highlights the growing role of Trump Accounts as a vehicle for private philanthropy. It also underscores Musk’s willingness to use personal holdings for high-profile public gestures. Observers will watch whether other billionaires follow suit.
