Prime Video has released a new trailer for “Blade Runner 2099,” unveiled at New York Comic-Con last week, signaling a neon-soaked return to the cyberpunk franchise. The series is set to premiere on Nov. 25, 2026, with an eight-episode first season. The footage blends the saga’s signature rain, trench coats and dystopian mood with striking outer-space imagery.
The show follows Ridley Scott’s 1982 “Blade Runner” and Denis Villeneuve’s “Blade Runner 2049.” Its plot reverses the franchise’s power dynamic: after a successful uprising, resentful artificial beings run the show and hunt humans on Earth. Michelle Yeoh stars as Olwen, a fading replicant Blade Runner, while Hunter Schafer plays Cora, a pure human on the run.
Cora attempts to evade a squad of exterminating Blade Runners while examining their existential natures. The trailer also showcases the City of Angels at the threshold of the 22nd century. Fresh footage delivers space travel, off-world planets and Yeoh wearing a bizarre helmet.
Showrunner Silka Louisa executive produces, alongside Scott Free Productions. The cast includes Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Katelyn Rose Downey and Daniel Rigby. Johnny Harris, Amy Lennox, Sheila Atim and Matthew Needham also appear.
The trailer’s space action positions “Blade Runner 2099” as a broader expansion of the franchise. It promises both noir atmosphere and off-world spectacle. The eight-episode season will test whether the series can extend the films’ legacy.
At Comic-Con, the debut drew attention for its dazzling visuals and sinister starships. The strange exoplanets suggest a wider canvas than previous installments. Fans now have a clear look at the show’s new world order.
“Blade Runner 2099” lands on Prime Video on Nov. 25, 2026. Its first season will introduce Olwen and Cora’s uneasy alliance. The trailer leaves the franchise poised for a futuristic hunt.
