Skyfall AI has unveiled SKY-001, a world model for complex physical product design in CAD and building-design workflows. The San Francisco startup said it plans directly in the visual and spatial domain. Commercial deployment is targeted for early 2027.
Current language models can struggle with engineering tasks that must preserve geometry, physical constraints and relationships across many components. SKY-001 uses a hierarchical approach: it breaks designs into assemblies and parts, plans construction sequences and maintains relationships. Skyfall said this reduces computation for complex engineering work.
In CAD, SKY-001 can take an image of an engineered product and generate a hierarchy of assemblies and parts, including sketches and modeling operations. In building information modeling, it can turn a building outline into unit layouts and individual rooms. It also supports parallel design exploration, recursive 3D decomposition and 2D-to-3D reasoning.
Skyfall says SKY-001 can reassemble components into complete 3D objects viewable in software such as Autodesk Fusion. The model is available in an initial research preview. It is part of Skyfall’s broader Enterprise World Models work, which uses recursive simulation to navigate changing business environments.
Skyfall claims SKY-001 is 100 times faster and operates at 150 times lower compute cost than GPT-4, Gemini, Claude Opus, Grok and leading open-source models for complex spatial-reasoning tasks. The company also claims higher precision for physical-design applications. CEO Sam Pasupalak said replacing brute-force LLM calls with long-term planning world models will make token costs plummet, citing Jevons’ paradox to argue lower marginal compute costs will accelerate adoption.
If the performance claims hold, the approach could lower barriers to advanced engineering design and speed iteration across industries. Skyfall expects commercial deployment in early 2027 alongside autonomous-enterprise initiatives. The company positions SKY-001 as the first world model for designing complex physical products.
