Recently, at Unitree Robotics' 2026 World Physical AI Conference and Unitree Partner Ecosystem Conference, a video of a robot failing a side flip sparked heated discussion. Footage shows a white humanoid robot attempting a side flip during a kung fu movement demonstration; it lost balance on landing and fell sideways onto the ground. One of its mechanical lower legs detached from the connection point and fell onto the black mat nearby.
It is understood that the robot involved in the accident was the H2-X humanoid robot just released by Unitree Robotics on October 21, officially named 'H2-X Kung Fu Legend Guardian.' This conference was an ecosystem event between Unitree Robotics and its partners, and a robot kung fu movement demonstration was arranged on site. The accident occurred during the demonstration and was captured by on-site video.
In the footage, after completing the side flip, the robot failed to land stably and then fell sideways. After the fall, one mechanical lower leg separated from the connection point with the body and landed on the black mat. After the video spread, the failure and the detached mechanical leg became the focus of discussion. As of press time, Unitree Robotics has not commented on the matter.
Previously, Unitree Robotics' official promotional video showcased various movement capabilities of the H2-X. The robot has demonstrated kicking a car door until it was dented, lifting a car with its bare hands, and jumping down from a platform about 4 meters high to complete a flip. Official information shows that the product is mainly aimed at security and emergency rescue scenarios, with a maximum battery life of about 8 hours.
This on-site failure video contrasts with the high-difficulty movements in official promotions, triggering public discussion about the stability of humanoid robot demonstrations. Because the robot involved in the accident is a newly released product, the incident has continued to ferment on social platforms and in industry discussions. Currently, Unitree Robotics has not explained the cause of the failure.
For Unitree Robotics, the H2-X is aimed at security and emergency rescue scenarios, and the reliability of on-site demonstrations has attracted attention. Subsequent product demonstrations, technical explanations, and official responses will affect outside evaluations of this robot. As of press time, Unitree Robotics has not made further statements about the side flip failure in the video.
