Hong Kong has designated Nasdaq-listed Solana Company (HSDT) as a strategic enterprise under the Office for Attracting Strategic Enterprises (OASES), the company announced Thursday. The firm was among 18 new enterprises added to the program last week. It is the only blockchain infrastructure company onboarded by OASES in 2026.
The OASES program seeks to attract businesses that support Hong Kong’s economic development. Solana Company was selected in the seventh batch, bringing the program’s total to 142 enterprises. The government confirmed the additions last week, highlighting the city’s efforts to draw high-value technology firms.
Solana Company operates staking and validator infrastructure and advises financial institutions on blockchain adoption. It also holds Solana (SOL) as part of its digital asset treasury strategy. The strategic enterprise status provides a single point of contact across government agencies and regulators, a spokesperson said.
The designation also offers expedited pathways for recruiting overseas talent and introductions to local institutional partners. Those benefits could accelerate Solana Company’s planned validator operations in Hong Kong. The company intends to establish the operations under Pacific Backbone, an initiative to build a low-latency blockchain infrastructure network across the Asia-Pacific region.
The move matters because Hong Kong’s strategic enterprise program signals regulatory support for blockchain infrastructure. For Solana Company, the designation may ease regulatory navigation and talent acquisition. It also positions the firm to connect with local financial institutions exploring blockchain technology.
A Solana Company spokesperson told Cointelegraph that the status gives the firm a single point of contact across government agencies and regulators. The spokesperson also cited expedited talent recruitment and introductions to local institutional partners. These advantages are expected to support the company’s regional expansion.
Looking ahead, Solana Company plans to establish validator operations in Hong Kong as part of Pacific Backbone. The initiative aims to build low-latency blockchain infrastructure across Asia-Pacific. The company’s inclusion in OASES could strengthen Hong Kong’s role as a blockchain hub.
