On October 28, Gu Jie, Vice President of XPeng Group, disclosed at the SAECCE Annual Conference that the solid-state battery for the XPeng IRON robot has rolled off the line in small-batch mass production, and the robot is currently in the pre-SOP stage. According to reports from Yicai and Sina Auto, Gu introduced the robot-specific solid-state battery and mass production progress. Gu announced this latest status on-site at the annual conference.

Gu stated that XPeng has debuted a solid-state battery dedicated to robots. Constrained by the space requirements of robots, the battery adopts a high-energy-density design and reconstructs battery standards. The battery also adopts a design to prevent thermal runaway propagation and can withstand tests such as impact and nail penetration.

In the manufacturing segment, XPeng's robot production line was officially launched on September 8. The world's first high-order general-purpose humanoid robot completed automated final assembly and autonomously walked off the production line to make its appearance. XPeng said this marks a key leap for its robot from R&D trial production to production line manufacturing and an important step toward large-scale mass production.

According to the plan, XPeng will achieve mass production of humanoid robots by the end of 2026 and begin deliveries in the first half of 2027. In the initial delivery phase, the robots will first be deployed in commercial scenarios such as stores and shopping malls, and will gradually expand to industrial and home scenarios. This arrangement makes commercial scenarios the starting point for the deployment of humanoid robots.

On the capital side, XPeng's robot business completed its first financing round of more than US$900 million on August 24, with a post-investment valuation of more than US$6.3 billion. This round of financing set a new record for single-round private equity financing in China's embodied intelligence industry. The relevant financing scale and valuation data have been disclosed publicly.

From the small-batch mass production rollout of the solid-state battery to the launch of the production line and the clear delivery timetable, the XPeng IRON robot is advancing its pre-mass-production preparations. The pre-SOP stage referred to by Gu means that the robot still needs to complete preparations related to standard operating procedures. Subsequent mass production and delivery progress will test the actual performance of its core components and manufacturing system.
