Tencent Hunyuan Hy4 and Hy4 Flash AI Models to Launch Soon, Introducing Visual Understanding for the First Time

On October 29, according to STAR Market Daily, at the Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Summit, Dowson Tong, Senior Executive Vice President of Tencent Group and CEO of the Cloud and Smart Industries Group, announced on site that Tencent Hunyuan Hy4 is about to be released. Compared with Hy4 preview, this model achieves comprehensive and substantial improvements and introduces visual understanding for the first time. This release plan was disclosed publicly at the Tencent Global Digital Ecosystem Summit.
Previously, Tencent released Hy4 preview on August 28. The model has 770B total parameters, 49B activated parameters, and a context length of 1M. Tencent officially stated at the time that Hy4 preview had been significantly expanded in model size, context length, and data scale.
Tencent introduced that, compared with Hy4 preview, Hy4 achieves comprehensive and substantial improvements. In particular, it strengthens capabilities for various long-horizon and real-world productivity tasks and significantly improves chain-of-thought efficiency. At the same time, Hy4 introduces visual understanding for the first time, becoming one of the important changes in this upgrade.
In addition to Hy4, Dowson Tong also announced that Hy4 flash will be released in the near future. This model is positioned as a practical model offering extreme cost-effectiveness. On the basis of inheriting Hy4's strong capabilities such as vision and Agent, it achieves high-frequency evolution through deep co-design of models and products.
From the information disclosed so far, Hy4's capabilities focus on long-horizon tasks, real-world productivity tasks, chain-of-thought efficiency, and visual understanding. Hy4 flash emphasizes practicality and cost-effectiveness and continues capabilities such as vision and Agent. The release cadence of both models has been announced on site at the summit.
Tencent officially stated previously that the joint progress of Hy4 preview in pre-training and post-training brought another huge improvement in intelligence level. This time, Hy4 further upgrades on this basis and adds visual understanding capabilities.
