Guangdong 7-ELEVEN's 2,000th store opened on October 29 at Tencent's headquarters campus in Shenzhen. On opening day, a smart operation robot bearing the WeChat Pay logo entered a store to "work" for the first time, taking on part of the duties such as greeting customers, shopping guidance, and order taking. Customers can choose products and discounted bundles based on the robot's recommendations, with the robot assisting them in placing orders, after which they scan the code themselves to complete payment.
According to IT Home on November 1, the store's opening event introduced the WeChat Pay smart operation robot. The robot can recommend products and discounted bundles to customers and help complete the ordering process. After customers select products, they scan the code and pay themselves, forming a closed loop from selection to payment.
Officials said that the smart operation robot handles part of the greeting, shopping guidance, and order-taking steps, so staff can free up their hands to handle tasks such as restocking, heating food, and looking after the store floor. This division of labor helps ease pressure during peak hours and allows staff to focus more on on-site service.
Technically, the robot is built on Tencent Hunyuan. Through the model's excellent multi-turn dialogue and Agent capabilities, the robot can assist stores with daily sales, payment collection, and operations. It can also carry out continuous conversations with customers in complex store scenarios, completing product recommendations and order guidance.
In addition, the WeChat Pay smart operation robot is equipped with Tencent Tianlai inside audio solution. Even in a noisy store environment, the robot can "hear clearly" users' voices, improving the accuracy of voice interaction. This solution supports the stable use of the robot in real retail environments.
The robot's entry into the store took place at the milestone of Guangdong 7-ELEVEN's 2,000th store opening. The WeChat Pay smart operation robot entered a store to "work" for the first time, demonstrating how smart operation tools can be implemented in convenience store scenarios. For stores, the robot takes on repetitive shopping guidance and order-taking work, helping improve operational efficiency.
From an industry perspective, convenience stores have high customer traffic and a wide variety of products, placing high demands on shopping guidance and checkout efficiency. Combining multi-turn dialogue and Agent capabilities, the smart operation robot can provide assistance in sales, payment collection, and operations. In the future, the application scope of such devices in retail stores is expected to expand further.
