Toyota Motor released its first-half report for fiscal 2027 on November 5. From April 1 to September 30, 2026, the company's total operating revenue was 26.96 trillion yen, up 9.5% year on year; net income attributable to shareholders of the parent company was 2.24 trillion yen, up 26.1% year on year; basic earnings per share were 185.97 yen, up 36.67% year on year. The results exceeded market analysts' expectations, and operating profit achieved year-on-year growth for the first time in six quarters.
Toyota Motor is one of the world's large automobile manufacturers, and its core businesses cover vehicle design, manufacturing, sales, and related financial services. This disclosure is the preliminary cumulative consolidated results for the first two fiscal quarters of fiscal 2027. During the consolidated reporting period, global sales volume was 4.758 million units, down 0.5% year on year; domestic sales in Japan increased 5.6% year on year; and overseas sales decreased 2.1% year on year.
Operating profit reached 2.19 trillion yen, up 9.2% year on year. Among these factors, exchange rate changes contributed 685.0 billion yen, sales efforts contributed 165.0 billion yen, cost/price improvements were a drag of 340.0 billion yen, changes in expenses were a drag of 20.0 billion yen, and other factors were a drag of 304.6 billion yen. Revenue from the automotive business was 23.98 trillion yen, and revenue from the financial services business was 2.76 trillion yen.
Net cash flow from operating activities for the period was 1.6 trillion yen, and the ending balance of cash and cash equivalents was 9.48 trillion yen. In changes to the scope of consolidation, Hino Motors and its consolidated subsidiaries, a total of 70 companies, were excluded from the scope of consolidation. Toyota said that both revenue and net income attributable to shareholders of the parent company exceeded expectations, and profitability was supported by factors such as exchange rates.
The company revised its full-year forecast for fiscal 2027. It expects operating revenue of 53.5 trillion yen, up 5.6% year on year; operating profit of 3.9 trillion yen, up 3.6% year on year; net income attributable to shareholders of the parent company of 3.57 trillion yen, down 7.2% year on year; and full-year earnings per share of 299.95 yen. It expects a full-year dividend per share of 100 yen, including an interim dividend of 50 yen and a year-end dividend of 50 yen.
Toyota's full-year revenue and operating profit forecasts remain on a growth track, but net income attributable to shareholders of the parent company is expected to decline year on year, indicating that the profit outlook is still affected by factors such as costs and exchange rates. The market will focus on subsequent sales performance and the impact of adjustments to the scope of consolidation on results. Subsequent performance remains to be observed.
