Data disclosed by the State Administration for Market Regulation on November 7 show that in the first three quarters of 2026, leading enterprises and institutions nationwide engaged in advertising business achieved total revenue of 1,600.83 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 8.5%. Among this, internet advertising revenue reached 956.89 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 17.5%, continuing to be the main driving force for growth in the advertising industry. Mobile internet advertising publishing revenue was 812.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14%.

These data continue the trend of scale expansion in China's advertising industry. Data previously released by the State Administration for Market Regulation show that in the whole of 2025, nationwide advertising business revenue exceeded the 2 trillion yuan mark for the first time, reaching 2,050.21 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 32.6%, doubling within five years. Among this, internet advertising business revenue was 1,357.43 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 34.6%, accounting for 66.2% of advertising business revenue. By comparison, in the first three quarters of 2026, the growth rate of internet advertising revenue fell back to 17.5%.

From a structural perspective, the digital and intelligent transformation of the advertising industry is accelerating. In the first three quarters, mobile internet advertising publishing revenue was 812.5 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14%, accounting for a relatively large share of internet advertising revenue. The advertising business of mainstream media maintained steady growth; advertising business revenue of institutions represented by television stations was 34.57 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 3.3%, continuing to play a role in brand communication.

Regional concentration further increased. In the first three quarters, advertising business revenue in six provinces (municipalities)—Beijing, Shanghai, Guangdong, Zhejiang, Fujian, and Jiangsu—totaled 1,297.11 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.4%. These six regions accounted for 81% of the country's total advertising business, 0.6 percentage points higher than the same period last year, as advertising resources continued to cluster in economically developed areas.

The relatively rapid growth of internet advertising reflects advertisers' strong willingness to invest in digital channels. Mobile advertising publishing revenue maintained double-digit growth, bringing business opportunities to platform enterprises and marketing service providers. Mainstream media advertising revenue grew slightly, indicating that traditional communication channels still play a role in brand building.

Compared with the full-year data for 2025, the growth rate of internet advertising has fallen from 34.6% to 17.5% in the first three quarters of 2026. This change shows that after a period of rapid expansion, the growth pace of internet advertising is tending toward stability. The digital and intelligent transformation of the advertising industry is accelerating, and mobile internet advertising remains an important growth point.

Overall, leading enterprises and institutions remain an important support for the advertising market. Nationwide advertising business revenue has maintained growth, while internet advertising, mobile internet advertising, and mainstream media advertising show different development trends. The above data provide the latest reference for observing changes in the scale of the advertising industry and regional concentration.
