India-founded Ati Robotics has secured conditional U.S. national security clearance for five industrial robot platforms. The approval exempts them from the FCC Covered List and preserves eligibility for U.S. equipment authorization. The FCC published the decision Oct. 30 under ATI Motors Inc.

The clearance comes amid tighter scrutiny of foreign-produced advanced robotics. Since July 28, 2026, such devices have faced the FCC Covered List unless cleared by national security review. Ati said the U.S. Department of War approved the exemptions, letting it pursue American sales.

The five platforms are the Sherpa Mecha humanoid, Sherpa 10K and 3K tuggers, and FlexFork 1500 and 3000 forklifts. Sherpa Mecha is a dual-arm robot that navigates factory floors, retrieves bins and handles parts. The Sherpa 10K moves loads up to 10,000 pounds; FlexFork models move pallets and carts.

Ati maintains its U.S. headquarters in Madison Heights, Michigan, offering deployment support, maintenance and spare parts. It was already expanding in Michigan and planning U.S. manufacturing. Founder and CEO Saurabh Chandra said the FCC action reinforces that autonomous robots are strategic technology.

Chandra said Ati prioritized building robots ground up and controlling key components. Siddharth Bhagra, vice president of sales, said U.S. customers had asked whether robots would be cleared to ship and be serviced long term. He said the approval gives them more confidence.

Ati reports a 99% mission success rate across its robotic portfolio in daily production. It cites average deployment times of four weeks or less. Its Ati Flow software coordinates material movement across industrial facilities.

The approval keeps all five platforms eligible for FCC equipment authorization required for U.S. distribution. Ati said Sherpa Mecha is one of only two cleared humanoid robots and the only one designed for factory operations. The company plans to expand Michigan operations and U.S. manufacturing.
