Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the United States attracted a massive $608.3 million in net inflows on a single day, marking a significant surge in institutional investment. This push on Thursday, August 22, 2026, helped lift the weekly inflows for these funds above $1.6 billion. The move came as Bitcoin's price rallied, trading above the $75,000 level and pushing its gains for the week higher.
This performance is part of a broader, sustained positive streak for Bitcoin ETFs, which have now seen four consecutive sessions of net inflows. The week began with $297.6 million on Monday, followed by $189.3 million on Tuesday, and $517.2 million on Wednesday, according to data from SoSoValue. This consistent demand reflects strong investor confidence amid the cryptocurrency market's upward momentum.
The recent activity has propelled August's total net inflows for Bitcoin ETFs to $2.07 billion through Thursday. This figure has already surpassed the previous 2026 monthly high of $1.97 billion set in April, despite there being seven trading sessions still remaining in the month. The cumulative net inflows for these spot Bitcoin ETFs have now reached a staggering $53.4 billion.
Parallel to the Bitcoin rally, spot Ether ETFs also experienced a landmark day. They recorded their largest single-day net inflow since October, drawing in $220.8 million on Thursday. This was their biggest intake across 203 trading sessions, since October 28, 2025, when they attracted approximately $246 million. Ether's price climbed about 4.6% to around $2,357.
The inflows for Ether ETFs have been substantial, with about $512.2 million entering over four trading sessions this week. This has lifted their August net inflows to approximately $754.9 million, bringing their total net assets to $13.58 billion. The data underscores a renewed and broad-based interest in crypto-related investment products.
This surge in ETF activity coincides with significant technical milestones for the underlying cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin recently broke above its 200-day moving average for the first time since November, a key indicator often watched by traders for long-term trends. The combined data points to a period of heightened market activity and positive sentiment within the digital asset space.
Looking ahead, market observers will watch whether this momentum can be sustained, especially with the Federal Reserve's upcoming policy decisions potentially impacting risk appetite. The record-setting flows into both Bitcoin and Ether ETFs signal that institutional capital is actively positioning in the crypto market, which could provide further support for prices in the near term.
