Anker, a consumer electronics brand known for charging accessories and audio products, has announced its first over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aids, marking its official entry into the personal hearing device market. The announcement was made at the IFA 2026 trade show, a major European consumer electronics event.
The launch comes at a significant time for the OTC hearing aid industry in the United States. Only a few months prior, LXE Hearing, the parent company of prominent manufacturers Eargo and Lexie Hearing, decided to cease its US operations and exit the OTC hearing aid market entirely. Anker's new product thus has the potential to fill a substantial void left by these established brands.
While specific model names, US pricing, and availability details remain unconfirmed, the core technology has been highlighted. The hearing aids will utilize Anker's proprietary Thus audio chip, which was first introduced in April for its Soundcore Liberty 5 Pro earbuds. This chip is noted for delivering exceptional voice isolation and vocal quality.
The devices employ a receiver-in-canal (RIC) design, where the main body rests behind the ear. They feature four beam-forming microphones engineered to focus on a user's conversation partner, enhancing speech clarity in noisy environments. Battery life is cited at up to 12 hours of use, extending to 36 hours with the charging case.
Anker claims a fast-charging capability that provides two hours of use from a five-minute charge, boasting it as the quickest available among its competitors in this space. The technical specifications suggest a focus on usability and long-duration performance for daily wear.
The company has indicated that more comprehensive details, including final models and a launch timeline, are expected to be revealed by the end of 2026. Market observers will be watching closely to see how Anker's offering, backed by its audio expertise, competes in a field that has recently seen consolidation and exits. The move represents a strategic expansion for Anker into a growing health and accessibility technology sector.
