Bitcoin’s 50-, 100- and 200-day averages are nearing a bullish alignment for the first time since 2025. The crossover would place short-, medium- and long-term trends on the same upward footing. It reinforces the cryptocurrency’s three-month recovery but does not guarantee further gains.
A bullish stack requires the 50-day average above the 100-day, and the 100-day above the 200-day. Bitcoin’s 50-day measure is $79,495, versus $79,493 for the 100-day and $79,539 for the 200-day. The 100-day must rise about $46 to complete the crossover.
Vikram Subburaj, CEO of India-based, FIU-registered Giottus exchange, said the order was last restored on June 24, 2025. Moving averages gauge momentum by comparing recent prices with older data. The pending crossover suggests bitcoin’s recovery has persisted across all three periods.
Bitcoin rose more than 40% in the third quarter to $87,000, before stalling near $85,000. Subburaj linked the pause to a sustained rise in the U.S. Dollar Index. Despite the slowdown, he said the signal confirms that the recovery has endured.
Past bullish alignments have had mixed results. An October 27, 2020 crossover, formed when bitcoin traded near $13,600, lasted until May 2021 as the asset reached a then-record above $64,000. Another, confirmed in early November 2023, held until May 2024 while bitcoin more than doubled from roughly $35,000 to $73,000.
Not every crossover produced a lasting rally. The June 2025 alignment lasted 97 days, with bitcoin rising modestly from about $106,000 to $112,000. A June 2024 setup lasted 20 days, during which bitcoin fell roughly 10%.
Subburaj said the crossover strengthens the trend case but cannot determine what follows. The key test is whether bitcoin’s spot price remains above its 50-day average during a correction. Holding that level would support a sustained bullish structure, while a break could undermine the recovery.
