Google has acquired Crusoe’s data center site in southeast Wyoming, completing Crusoe’s pre-development role on the project. The transaction was announced on Nov. 6, 2026. It transfers a site Crusoe advanced through site selection, governmental approvals and power planning. Google now controls a planned AI infrastructure campus in Wyoming.

Crusoe and Tallgrass Energy initiated the campus through joint development of power and data center infrastructure. The work required coordination across energy systems design, data center engineering, site development and hyperscaler engagement. Crusoe said its pre-construction efforts—origination, entitlement and de-risking—positioned the project for construction and operation.

CEO Chase Lochmiller said the pre-construction work had set up Wyoming for construction and eventual operation. “Crusoe is in the business of activating gigawatts for intelligence,” Lochmiller said. He cited more than 6 GW contracted and over 40 GW in Crusoe’s pipeline. The company said it is eager to steward development and energization of foundational AI infrastructure.

The campus uses a hybrid power strategy combining fuel cells, grid power and natural gas turbines. It includes a long-term roadmap for carbon capture through Tallgrass’s regional CO2 sequestration hub. Crusoe described the design as an example of its integrated approach to digital infrastructure. The strategy aims to support reliable power while addressing emissions over time.

The acquisition highlights growing demand for AI data center capacity and dedicated power. Wyoming’s site had secured approvals and a hybrid power plan, reducing development risk for Google. Crusoe recently announced it is the developer of Google’s campus under construction in Armstrong County outside Amarillo. That project underscores Crusoe’s continuing role in Google-linked AI infrastructure.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The deal reflects how hyperscalers are securing energy-first sites as AI computing demand rises. Google’s Wyoming project now moves toward construction and eventual operation.
